Senior Wind Turbine Technician, Vestas Technician, Wind Troubleshooter

Job description:

Ventos Power Plus is seeking Senior Traveling Wind Turbine Technicians with hands-on Vestas platform experience to support advanced troubleshooting, corrective maintenance, and technical support across wind projects throughout the United States. This position is intended for experienced troubleshooters capable of independently diagnosing and resolving complex electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and control-system issues on Vestas wind turbines. This is not an entry-level role.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced troubleshooting and fault isolation on Vestas wind turbine platforms
  • Diagnose and resolve issues related to electrical systems, controls, hydraulics, mechanical assemblies, and safety systems
  • Execute corrective maintenance and component-level repairs in accordance with Vestas OEM procedures
  • Support return-to-service, fault response, and major maintenance activities
  • Interpret fault codes, schematics, and technical documentation to identify root causes
  • Accurately document work performed, findings, and corrective actions
  • Maintain strict compliance with all safety policies, OEM standards, and site-specific requirements
  • Travel continuously to wind sites nationwide with typical rotations of 4–6 weeks at a time

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Proven experience troubleshooting Vestas wind turbines
  • Strong background in electrical and control-system diagnostics
  • Solid mechanical and hydraulic troubleshooting capability
  • Ability to work independently in the field with minimal supervision
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to travel 100% nationwide for extended rotations

Preferred Experience (Strongly Desired)

  • Experience with Vestas platforms such as V80, V90, V100, V110, V117, V136, V150, or similar
  • Experience supporting advanced troubleshooting, fault response, and return-to-service scopes
  • Prior OEM, service provider, or technical advisor experience
  • Relevant certifications (Vestas OEM, GWO, electrical, LOTO, first aid, etc.)

Physical & Safety Requirements

  • Must pass pre-employment background check and drug screening
  • Must pass a pre-employment physical administered by a certified medical examiner
  • Must meet body weight restriction of 270 lbs or less, per safety regulations
  • Ability to lift and manipulate up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to climb vertical ladders and work at heights of 300+ feet
  • Ability to climb multiple turbines per day
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in adverse and extreme weather conditions
